Science is a key component to many healthcare and technical fields. Biological, Environmental, Physical, and Natural Sciences provide the background knowledge needed to understand important concepts and key terms in a variety of fields. Science is a required field of study for many occupational and academic degree programs, such as Nursing, Water Technology, Nuclear Medicine, Safety, Physical Therapist Assisting, Facilities Technology, and much more. Science is used in your everyday life when preparing a balanced meal, exercising, controlling your allergies, filtering water, planting a garden, repairing your automobile or refrigeration unit, providing first aid to your child, and much, much more.

Chemistry

Chemistry studies the makeup and properties of substances and investigates substances as they undergo changes due to contact with various elements. Chemistry is offered in the following disciplines:

Food and Nutrition 

Food and Nutrition covers the scientific principles of human nutrition, including health promotion, nutrition principles for treatment of common health conditions, sources of nutrients, suggested food selection throughout the life cycle, and the relationship between diet and other lifestyle factors.

The Nutrition During Pregnancy course covers the elements of proper nutrition for the mother and child during pregnancy. The stages of pregnancy are discussed, as well as the importance of maintaining a healthy diet during these stages. Negative habits to avoid and the consequences of poor nutritional habits during pregnancy are also covered.

Physical Geography

Meteorology is one of many fields covered in physical geography; and the course investigates the science of the atmosphere with specialization with regard to the weather.
